Windows 10: How to change headphones to headset on windows 11?

My headset is plugged in to the correct spot but for some reason it still shows up as only headphones and wont let me use the microphone capabilities.

How to change 'headphones' to 'headset'?

When i first connected my headset, it asked me if i was plugging in a headphones or headset, and i chose headphones. now i can't use the microphone on my headset, and i can't change it to a headset, because my computer thinks its headphones instead of a headset. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, restarting my device, and none of it has worked. i'm on windows 11 and none of the forums i've looked through have had a solid answer that has worked for me.

Windows 11 Headphone/Headset Settings For 3.5mm Jack

Hello, When I first installed Windows 11 on my laptop (fresh install), after I connected my headphones, I got a notification asking me what this device is. I had two choices: "Headphones" or "Headset", so I choose Headphones.

Now, when I connect my headset to the laptop, it treats it as a headphone and the headset's microphone won't work (there is no microphone for the headset in sound settings); I haven't been able to find the setting to change the Headphone and Headset options.
