Windows 10: i changed my hdd to ssd, activation error

today i changed my hdd to ssd but facing problem in activation the windiows

Switch HDD to SSD + Add m2 2280 SSD then Activation? Or Activate then swap all the HDD/SSDs around?

Good Afternoon,

Just purchased a brand new desktop PC (it still in the box). Its preinstalled with Windows 10 Professional (awaiting activation) on the a single drive which is a 2.5" HDD. I don't' want that drive in the computer and I've purchased two new SSD's to upgrade
the system. Once I remove the HDD, its no longer part of my equation.

Current out of the box setup:

2.5" HDD with Windows 10 Pro awaiting first startup / initiation and activation.

Where I want to go:

M.2 2280 SSD as Primary drive with Windows 10 Pro installed and activated here

2.5" SSD as secondary drive for my files/documents/data.

How do I get the preinstalled Win10Pro off the HDD, and activate it on the M2 SSD as the primary OS boot drive? Should I activate windows before making all these hardware changes? Or should I clone/reinstall Windows 10 Pro to the M.2 SSD then activate?
Last step is adding the additional SSD for data, but that's not a priority … or is it? Add it before activation?

This is the headache I get for buying an pre-built system that wasn't originally spec'd the way I wanted. Oh well.

Do the HDD/SSD changes make a diff to the activation process? or is it all hardware encoded to the motherboard which remains unchanged?

Moving an activated key from hdd to ssd

Changing what Windows 10 is installed on doesn't change the licence so HDD > HDD or HDD > SSD will still be activated so long as the rest of the hardware is the same. A Windows 10 licence is registered against the device (motherboard) as long as the same
edition is installed, Home or Pro.

You will need to clean install to the SSD though, use the Media Creation Tool to create USB install media to install windows to the SSD Download Windows 10 select
to create media for another PC and select your USB flash drive. (8GB min)

I would suggest disconnecting the HDDs and install with just the SSD connected. All your programs and apps will need to be re-installed once you can boot from the SSD.

You will need to delete windows from the HDD manually deleting folders if you have other software that you want to keep.

 

Freezing after change HDD to SSD

My desktop is Lenovo Q190 with intel i3, 4GB RAM. I changed internal HDD with SSD (Hikvision SSD 120GB). I make 2 partitions : 1st. 93GB and 2nd.13GB. I Installed clean Windows 10 Pro ver.1093. It was running well for an hour, suddenly Freezing and change
to be blue screen with some notifications that said Go to www.windows.com/stopcode.

PC tried to reboot, but my SSD not detected and then notification said: Error 1962 press any key........ I pressed any key but still Error 1962.

These were happened :

1. Pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and PC tried reboot again, too bad still the same error, SSD not detected then error 1962

2. Pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and PC tried reboot again and press F1 to log into boot menu, yeah I didn't see my SSD in boot menu. Exit

3. Pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and PC tried reboot again then still error 1962

4. Pressed button power to OFF and stay for 10 seconds, then I pressed button power to ON suddenly my SSD detected and I saw it and my PC log in to Windows 10 Pro. It looked OK and I did many things with my PC, 2 hours played my PC suddenly freezing again.
I did step 1 until 3 all the same trouble.

Only with step 4 my PC run well. But I still faced freezing until now.

It was happened since I change HDD with SSD, beside with my last internal HDD I didn't faced freez and error 1962. FYI, the only reason I change HDD (WD Blue 500GB) with SSD cause it very slow running.

Please help me, I did some troubleshooting which I got from blogs and websites but no solution.
