  1. Do I have to erase my sd card to turn on BitLocker on it?

I have an SD card, I'm not looking to erase it in anyway, I used macOS to add the files on it, while the SD card's format is ExFAT which is compatible with Windows, Do I have to erase my SD card to add a PIN to access the sensitive information on my SD card? and If so, will that PIN requirement that is set for the SD's security be also applied on my MacBook macOS?Thank you.

  2. How to encrypt a SD card without Bitlocker or TPM

I'm setting up a Windows 10 laptop for someone else.

They have a SDCard and we want to make sure it's only accessible on that machine.

The card will be holding synced Google Drive files so if it's lost there's no issue with data loss. The most important outcome is someone can't take the card out, put it in their machine and read the files.

Unfortunately the laptop doesn't have a TPM chip so Bitlocker will only run with the user entering another password (for Bitlocker) every time they want to use their laptop. This isn't ideal and I want to get around it if possible.

Are there any third party applications that will do what we're after? Or is there another method I can use?

I found this older question where "TrueCrypt" is suggested as a solution: Encrypt files on an SD card

However TrueCrypt is no longer maintained and recommends the use of Bitlocker.

    Any suggested solutions appreciated.

  3. one of my nokia 630 phones will not recongize the mircro SD card... Please help

    Hi BrianTovar,

    Thanks for posting!

    I understand that your Windows Phone doesn't recognize the SD card. Have you tried formatting the SD card ? If not please do so, following the steps below;

You can format the SD card in your phone to erase all files on it and start fresh.
WARNING: All your personal files and everything else on the SD card will be erased.

    • In the
      App list
      , tap Storage Sense

      .

    • Tap SD card, and then pan down and tap Format SD card.

    • In the Format SD card? message box, tap Yes to confirm and format the card.

    Kind Regards,

    SD card failure

    Hi Andrew,

I would need to ask few questions so I can isolate your concern properly. Kindly answer the following:

    • Did you get a specific error message?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
    • What's the current build of your computer? Press Windows key + R and then type winver.
    • Did you try to run a full system scan using your anti-virus? Can you tell us the result?
    • Does your SD card has a write protection?

Meanwhile, you may try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. Open Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> Hardware and Devices> Run the troubleshooter.

Step 2: Check SD Card in Disk Management.

    1. Open Disk Management.
    2. Your SD card will appear as a removable disk.
    3. Check if it has a drive letter.
    4. If it does not show anything, right click the SD card and then select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”.
    5. Click “Add” and select a drive letter, then click “OK”.

Step 3: Update SD card driver.

    1. Open Device manager.
    2. Find your SD card and right click it.
    3. Select Properties.
    4. Click the driver tab and then select Update Driver.

Note: You may need to use a keyboard and mouse to connect to your laptop to perform the said steps if it does not allow on tablet mode.
