  1. Items in clipboard vanished despite not being at the cap.

I have clipboard history on, and I just took several screenshots that I need access to, but when I open my clipboard there's only two items there. Everything online says that the clipboard can hold 25 items, so I don't understand where the others went. I copied and pasted them into a separate window, but I lost that version of them, and I can't take the screenshots again. I haven't restarted my PC either.

    :)

  2. how to keep all clipboard items pinned by default until deleted

Hi... I want all the Ctrl +C's to stay pinned.. I know that there is a cap of 25... but still, stay pinned until deleted... the default is that the items in the clipboard vanishes if there is a reboot until pinned.

  3. How to paste from latest item from Clipboard without losing all un-pinned items (reboot)?

Thanks Martin for useful and detailed advise, however if Clipboard fails within 2 hours even when I restart Windows every 3 hours, I prefer to have a simple manual reset for non-IT user (if this is correct description of your advise); can you simplify steps 2 and/or 3? such that I can reset after say 10 copy and paste? option 1 didn't work which made me post this question. I also tried Powershell but admin right is required.

    Otherwise, I have to:

    1. wait for Windows 11 or
    2. think of workaround. Clipboard of Microsoft Office App doesn't have this problem.

How to paste from latest item from Clipboard without losing all un-pinned items (reboot)?

    Hi, panes-rubic

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems like you’re experiencing a problem with the Windows 10 Clipboard feature. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Clear Clipboard Data: Press Win + V to open the clipboard. There’s a Clear all button at the top of the clipboard which will clear the clipboard data. This might help if the clipboard is full and not functioning correctly. Remember that this will clear all items except pinned items.
    2. Restart the Clipboard Process: Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Del and then selecting Task Manager. Scroll down to Windows Explorer under the Processes tab. Right click on it and select Restart. This will restart the clipboard process without requiring a full reboot.
    3. Disable and Re-enable Clipboard History: Go to Settings > System > Clipboard and toggle Clipboard history off, wait a few seconds, and then toggle it back on.
Please note that these steps won’t help to recover lost un-pinned items from the clipboard after a reboot. Clipboard data is stored in RAM and gets cleared when you shut down or reboot your computer. To keep items in the clipboard after a reboot, you would need to pin them.
