Windows 10: Can’t update computer that is running machinery

Hi I have a win 10 pc that is running some industrial equipment that needs to stay on Windows 10… due to lack of support on the machinery. The machine ONLY runs the equipment but needs to be connected to the LAN … is there a way to secure this machine from external threats. It does not need internet access.

Machinerys handbook 25 edition for Windows 10

Typing "View all" & clicking on "Program Compatibility Troubleshooter" followed by clicking "Next" does not work but I have managed to navigate to the program setup in the directory but this does not run.

There are instructions for running the program in Win 95 or NT which I have copied below but they do not work in Win 10.

Installation on Windows 95 or Windows NT:

1) Run the program setup.exe located in the

x:\Windows\Win95-NT\ directory of the CD ("x" is

the drive letter of your CD.)
In Windows 95 or NT, the setup program will

install the DynaText browser, and create a

Machinery's Handbook folder on your computer in

the location you choose (or in the default

location.)
If you accepted the default choices in the

installation step above, a Machinery's Handbook

folder and shortcut icon will be created in the

Windows\Start Menu\Programs directory, and

Machinery's Handbook will be added to Start

Programs menu accessable from the Task Bar.

Using an existing DynaText browser: If you

already have a copy of the DynaText3.1 browser,

you do not need to install the browser again to

use Machinery's Handbook. Instead, you may wish

to add the Machinery's Handbook collection to your

currrent browser by editing your dynatext.ini file

(usually located in the dtext31/bin directory) and

adding the line below in the [dtext] section of

the file. To do this, open the dynatext.ini file

in a text editor and add the following line

imediately before or after the other COLLECTION

lines:
COLLECTION=x:\MacHBook="Machinery's Handbook"

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

I suggest you to perform below mentioned troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select View all on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click on Network Adapter.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
  

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2: Update driver manually.

I suggest you to update the Network Adapter from the Device Manager.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on Start button and click on Device Manager.
  
• 
  Extend Network adapters driver from the list.
  
• 
  Right click on the Network driver and click on
  Update driver Software.
  

Check if it helps to resolve the issue.
