Windows 10: PowerPoint Will Not Record Audio

Every week for years I have recorded a PowerPoint slideshow with narration and timings. However, this morning, I am unable to do so. I have tried all of the suggested fixes I could find on here to no avail. I even tried on another computer and got the same error message. I have tried using different microphones also.When I try to turn on the microphone which seems to be off by default at the moment, I get the following error message:"Your media recording device Stereo Mix Realtek Audio is not set up correctly or already used by other apps. Please select another one or close all

1. May I know, if you are facing this issue on all the other sound applications as well?
2. Do you get any error code or error message when you try to record the audio?

We will have to try few troubleshooting steps to further eliminate the root cause of the issue.

Open Windows voice recorder and try to record any audio and check if that works.

If you still face the issue, try the steps provided below.

Can not record audio.

Hi,

We suggest that you run troubleshooting for Audio Recording by following these steps:

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Audio Recorder is not working

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

From what you have mentioned, I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with recording. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your recording.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel
• Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter

I suggest you to install all the latest audio and Display drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
