  1. Please update the RAW Image Extension app to support modern cameras

I would like to have Windows 11 RAW support for my Panasonic GH6/GH7/S1RII/other RAW support for Windows can be added through this free program, the Raw Image Extension, but the latest camera models are not supported.RAW support for this app is depended on this open source program, LibRaw. The list of cameras supported by LibRaw is much longer, as it is being updated frequently. Why does the list of supported cameras in the Raw Image Extension not mirror the list in LibRaw? The work has been done. Please update the the Raw Image Extension program to support more camera's

    Raw Image Extension

Thanks for your interest in the Raw Image Extension. You can acquire the extension to install on your devices but Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version number 1903) is required to install the extension. The Raw Image Extension adds native viewing support for
images captured in raw file formats produced by many mid- to high-end digital cameras. By installing the package, you will be able to view thumbnails and metadata of supported raw file formats right in Windows File Explorer or view images in the Photos app.
The current version of the extension supports a long list of cameras, however some Raw formats like .CR3 and .GPR are not currently supported. This package is made possible thanks to libraw open source project (About LibRaw | LibRaw). Check out LibRaw 0.21 supported cameras | LibRaw
for a list of supported cameras. Libraw library is licensed under COMMON DEVELOPMENT AND DISTRIBUTION LICENSE Version 1.0 (CDDL-1.0) PLEASE NOTE – the Raw codec delivered by this extension requires changes to Windows to run. Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version
number 1903) or later is required. If you can’t install the extension, your device is running a version of Windows that does not meet the minimum Windows build number required to run the extension. Please consider upgrading your device to the latest version
of Windows to install the extension. PLEASE NOTE – the extension is NOT an app – you can’t interact directly with it. It installs an OS codec plugin used by Windows apps including File Explorer and Photos to decode raw images. Please use File Explorer to view
thumbnails or Photos app to view your raw images from supported cameras after installing the extension.

Camera codec pack on windows 10 to view RAW files

    Hi Marjan,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Ideally, the RAW images created by the cameras need their own software or extensions to work on Windows 10. The Raw Image Extension adds native viewing support for images captured in raw file formats produced by many mid- to high-end digital
cameras. By installing the package, you will be able to view thumbnails and metadata of supported raw file formats right in Windows File Explorer or view images in the Photos app. You may install the
Raw Image Extension from the Microsoft
Store and see if it helps.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to get in touch with the Nikon support and see if they can help you with the software or plugin to access RAW files.

    Regards,

    Raw Image Extension not working

I used the Microsoft store to get the Raw Image Extension so I could see my raw images in Explorer. It supports my camera. I have the latest version of Win 10. I am pretty sure I clicked something, which probably said GET. As it is not working, I went back to the store to try it again. Now the store site says I own the codec, and just has an OPEN button. That leads to an irrelevant page. I cannot find the codec on the computer, unless it shows as a different name. I tried to reset the app from the settings app page, but it did not help. How can I get the codec to work, or reinstall it?
