Windows 10: My passcode is correct, so why is Windows giving me a "you can't sign in with this account"...

Thanks in advance for your help. I have an Asus ProArt StudioBook laptop. Running Windows 11. I can not log into my account. I tried using the same correct passcode as I did yesterday, and it gives me the error "You can't sign in with this account"I tried using an incorrect passcode and it give me the error "the pin is incorrect" So I know I am using the correct passcode, but it is preventing me from logging on. I have waited 30 minutes. I have done a hard reset with the power cord disconnected and holding the power button for 60 seconds. I tried "forgot my password" and am unable to reset my

Hello sciencegal,

You can have Windows automatically sign in to a local account or Microsoft account. It doesn't matter.

Is you account listed more than once in netplwiz? Double check to make sure that you have selected the correct account in step 3 Option 1.

The password is case sensitive, so be sure to enter it exactly for it to work properly.

Yes the correct or current info is in the Settings/Accounts/Your email and accounts.
The steps in the tutorial included signing in after deleting a listing. I couldn't see where that was relevant since its a second listing. It looks like I have to voluntarily do the 'sign in' so I can avoid doing that. I'm locked out for 30 days anyway.
Perhaps its time to set up a stand alone user account in that laptop <grin> Too nerve wracking dealing with this MSAccount.

Nar, step 5 is correct. You may have missed all the sub steps in it.

Steps 5A and 5B are to be able to select the account.

Step 5C is to uncheck the box like you did to set Windows to auto sign-in.
