DNS (Domain Name System) settings in Windows help your computer translate website names into IP addresses. However, many of us tend to use a third-party DNS, such as Google Public DNS, as it is often considered better than the one that comes by default. 2. Reset Cached DNS in Windows 10

I recently set up an AD server that is also now my DNS server. Everything worked fine with my Windows 7 machines. I pointed my router to the new DNS server and everything worked like it should after disconnecting and reconnecting to the network.

Unfortunately, Windows 10 is hanging on to old DNS entries and I just get this:

    IPv4 DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

    8.8.4.4

    192.168.1.1

My Windows XP/7 machines got the DNS update with zero issues after refreshing their IP.

All of the machines are set to automatically get the DNS server from the router.

    This is what I've tried.

    • Release/renew IP.
    • Flushdns/Renewdns.
    • Disabling/enabling adapters.
    • Deleting and reinstalling adapters.
    • Performing a Winsock reset.
    • Removing cached networks from my registry and rebooting.
    • Resetting my network from the network config.
    • Rebooting literally everything.
Nothing works. It still hangs on to those old DNS servers. Short of chunking my router and
forcing it to get a new DNS (from a new MAC address), I'm not sure what's left.

Other suggestion. Copy and paste this into Edge address bar and press Enter: edge://settings/content/ Expand Site Permissions and check that nothing is blocked. Then Expand each section of "All Permissions" and check that nothing is blocked. Other than that check DNS server settings on the affected machine. How to Change DNS Servers on Windows 11 If assigned by your ISP change to Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and disable DNS encryption then reboot and test. Make a note of your current settings first.

No, went with a different 3rd party suggestion. Works better. I'm reliant on others for my tech needs that way.
