Windows 10: Security codes never arriving

So, my laptop died, but I still need to access my account. I want to add myself as a user to a second laptop until I can afford a new hard drive, but to do this I must verify with a security code, which never arrives.What I've done:1 Spoken to a Microsoft representative who suggested I add the authenticator app this also requires a security code which never arrives.2. Checked my spam, junk, spam filters and block lists.3. Changed my password also recommended, didn't solve the problem.4. Added Microsoft account-security to my safe sender list5. error code 801811A2 is not found in error list. the only one, Does anyone know what is wrong with my HTC ARRIVE? Any ideas are helpful I will

A Microsoft Verification Code arrived as a text message, unexpected. Should I take any precautions to secure my account?
