    Its really bothersome that the response from Microsoft on the issue where DISM does not clean up the 2 remaining Reclaimable Packages in DISM is you live with it or reinstall. There is an obvious issue that needs to be addressed. I would be interested in an explanation as to why the Nuclear method of basically starting new is even a viable one. It's an MS product, it has a global issue not a one or two people reporting it. I see that as a "We don't care about your issue" attitude, which is a really incredibly irritating.     The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

    log file too long to fit in this post. I have already tried the steps in this article:

    My issues with this:

    • Step 3: file not found
    • Step 4: files not found
    • Step 5: about 40% of the files are missing
    • Finally: after a reboot dism still cannot fix my PC

    I am not sure you actually read all I wrote because:

    1. I am on 2004 already.
    2. Health was reported as good.
    3. There was NO component store corruption detected.
    4. The problem was (and remains)

      Number of Reclaimable Packages : 1Component Store Cleanup Recommended : Yes
    I did try a clean boot and the result was identical.

    I did download the Tool on a USB stick but it didn't heal as you can see. Here are the results:

    How to get damn DISM to work?

    you need to run DISM first before running SFC
    SFC query's the local component stores to make repairs
    DISM is targeted for rebuilding the component stores and a offline image the 'live' section is still handled by SFC in some cases
    except on windows 8.1 and up because they changed it
    but only for certain files and only if x part of the store is corrupt
    so yea pretty confusing eh
