Windows 10: why does my pc show me a tpm 2.0 initialization error when i cleary have it enabled in bios?

when i try to play valorant it works for a while then a message pops up saying tpm 2.0 initialization error 9090, i went into bios and tpm was enabled? ive tried everything else but nothing will work and i cant play 4 or more rounds of valorant until my pc shows me the error. specs are rtx 3050, i7 6700, 32gb ddr4, 1tb sata, q170m-c

TPM enabled in BIOS but not showing in Windows

I've been having some issues with my PC of late (BSODs), and noticed my TPM version was 1.2, so I decided to upgrade it to 2.0.

Checked the manufacturer's website and downloaded its most recent TPM2.0 firmware upgrade.

After I dealt with ownership, running the upgrade provided another hurdle, had to clear the existing TPM, so ran tpm.msc and cleared it from there.

Found instructions on this page:

Then ran upgrade again. It looked like it was working (it did the reboot and then who knows what else) but then next in Windows there is no longer TPM visible under "Device Security - Security Processor" (running tpm.msc again it now literally says "There is no TPM available").

All online help talks about enabling it in BIOS, but it is enabled in BIOS (and always was). BIOS still showing TPM v1.2.

I also tried finding TPM in the Device Manager, as this is what I can find online: "The Trusted Platform Module should show under Security devices in Device Manager". But my Device Manager has no section called "Security devices"; also checked under System Devices, nothing at all with the word "security".

The "Other Devices" section has many lines (66 entries called "Base System Device",1 entry called "PCI Device", 6 entries called "Performance Counters", 1 entry called "SM Bus Controller" and 1 entry called "System Interrupt Controller") but for none there seem to be drivers, so potentially one could be TPM...?

Hardware: Dell Precision T5810 with an Intel Xeon 2680v4 and 32GB ECC RAM - BIOS on latest version.

Software: Windows 11 Pro 21H2 build 22000.2538 (the PC came with it; was bought as refurbished).

Windows is activated; Activation State tells me "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft Account".

Windows 11 itself (still) works fine, but it won't allow upgrade to a newer one (its update facility doesn't see any newer Win11 flavours).

It does allow for security updates.

If I try to run the TPM2.0 upgrade again it says there is no TPM; also tried an older version of the TPM2.0 upgrade, same issue.

The exact messages:

First "Error: The System TPM Query Failed, Aborting".

Then "Error: Unable to prepare the TPM update payload".

So the main question is, how do I get Windows to recognise that TPM is actually there (as it's enabled in BIOS with all the proper checks enabled as well). An additional question is, has anyone gone through the same scenario on identical/similar hardware and managed to get it to work and - if so - what were the steps to manage it successfully?

Before I ran the firmware upgrade it did have stuff there.

 

TPM Enabled in Bios, but not showing up in windows

I have a Windows 11 computer, and have been running Windows 11 for many months now, however when I went to install a new game I got error saying TPM 2.0 not installed, after checking sys info and device manager it appeared TPM was not enabled, however it is enabled in bios. I have tried restarting, uninstalling TPM and restarting, updating TPM through device manager (Although it said no update was available), updating BIOS, turning FTPM on and off in BIOS. Windows requires TPM 2.0 and BIOS says its enabled so it must be enabled and working, but why is it not showing up?

I am using a Ryzen 5 5600x, RTX 3070Ti, 32GB Ram, Windows 11 Home, and Aorus B550 Elite AX V2 Motherboard

 

TPM 2.0 with AMD fTPM bios setting enabled on Asus x570 mobo

With MS getting in a funk and making TPM 2.0 a mandatory system requirement I ran the Windows 11 system checker MS released. It said my main system with an Asus ROG Strix x570-E Gaming (bios 3603) wasn't compliant because there was no TPM 2.0.

btw I'm running Windows 10 21H1 - 19043.1081.

So I dived into the bios set AMD fTPM Configuration to Enabled and now the PC is TPM 2.0 compliant.
Does anyone have experience with the mobo Q code 9E (listed as being for future use) which now displays? I know it shows after running the AMD Ryzen Master app.

Has anyone had any issues when this Q code 9E displays? I'm going to leave the fTpm setting in the bios enabled to see what happens. There are no error messages in the Event Viewer nor system crashes etc. so far.
