Windows 10: How can I permanently disable the Smart Charging feature on my Surface?

I’ve already tried turning off Smart Charging in the “Surface” app, but it only disables the feature temporarily — it turns back on again later. How can I permanently disable this feature?

Please try the below suggested steps and let us know if it helps.

1. Right click on
   Start menu and select Run.
   
2. Typegpedit.msc
   and press Enter.
   
3. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\SecurityOptions.
   
4. LocateInteractive logon: Require smart card
   policy setting.
   
5. Double click on the Policy and select
   Disabled option.
   
6. Click onApply
   and OK to save changes.
   
7. Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not,
   restart the system.

I suggest you to follow all the troubleshooting steps mentioned in
Surface battery won’t charge or Surface won’t run on battery and see if this helps.

Disable smart card Surface LTE

on the Surface LTE I have the option for smart card when logging in, and when authenticating for office 365. However I dont use the smart card and want to remove the option all together.

I have done the following already:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\scforeoption set to 0

in gpedit, Turn On Smart Card Plug and Play Service set to Disabled

However after this the smart card option still exists. Can you please advise on how to disable this.
