Windows 10: How to Make Kana the Default for Japanese IME? Or hotkeys?

After a few years, I finally got tired of this issue. You know the one. You press Windows+Space to switch to Japanese keyboard, but for some dumb reason, you still type just like the regular English keyboard until you click on that little A. THEN you can type in Kana. I looked up this issue and all the solutions I found said this:Ctrl + capslock to change to Hiragana, and Alt + capslock to change to KatakanaBut here's the thing. None of them work. At all. Those hotkeys do nothing whatsoever. I saw someone say you can type in English and hit F7 to change it to kana but that doesn't work either.

Japanese IME Keyboard not typing in kana but just English

Hello,

I installed the Japanese IME keyboard a year ago, and it was working fine. I would type in the romanji and then the corresponding kana character would appear on screen. I could switch from English to kana at any time via the little
keyboard icon at the on the taskbar that looked like this "あ"
when it was on kana mode and "A" when it was on English mode. However, now when I switch try to switch to the Japanese keyboard it doesn't even show the kana icon "あ" just the English one.
I've tried re-installing and restarting my computer, but it does nothing. I eve tried going into advanced settings to play around with it, but nothing. I don't want to mess up my other computer settings, so I stopped trying to fix it myself.

I need help because I need this function for my studies.

 

Can't type hiragana on Japanese IME keyboard after updating to Windows 10

Microsoft support suggests that you can use the hotkeys
to switch between input modes quickly:

• Press + to change the input language
• Press + to change to Hiragana
• Press + to change to Katakana
• Press + to toggle between alphanumeric and kana modes

As a side note: if you were really intent on making Hiragana your default input, you could write an
AutoHotkey script to do this for you. However, this involves understanding that scripting language.

How to stop auto-converting kana to kanji in IME Japanese

I'm using Windows 10 Home and whenever I try to type kana use Microsoft IME Japanese, it automatically wants to convert it to kanji. Even if I select the hiragana option from the pop-up list it gives me, it will revert this to kanji as soon as I start typing the next word. I've read that I need to turn of live conversion in the preferences, but there is no option for live conversion in any of the tabs of my Microsoft IME settings. There is an option for predictive input, but this is already turned off.
