Windows 10: How do I change the path for files on the desktop?

HelloMy C drive is now 75% full, both photos and documents account for 30% so I am trying to move those folders. I have changed the default so that future files are saved to the D drive, but is there a way to change the path from the desktop? What I mean by that is when you click the folder icon in the bottom bar, you get the icons for photos and documents. Both those are for C Users.... So can I change them to the d drive?Keith

If you want to open File Explorer to your C: drive without any registry tweaks, you'll need to do so from a shortcut you create.

1. Open File Explorer to This PC.
2. Right-click Winndows (C and select Create Shortcut:
   
   
3. Clock OK in the altert dialog:
   
   
4. And you'll have a shortcut on your Desktop:

what exactly do you need to decipher about that path line? also, what are you installing? perhaps i can help.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think the purpose of the echo command was to check if ~/bin was in the $PATH file. My problem is that I can't decipher the output and I don't know how to add ~/bin to the $PATH file.

Just for clarification, the snippet of instructions I gave is just a few steps in the installation process. Nothing is actually supposed to be installed with those steps.
