Windows 10: Surface laptop network adapters not working after Win 11 updates

I got a new Surface laptop. As part of its self-updating as it set itself up it downloaded and installed some windows and other updates and now neither the Ethernet nor the WiFi network adapters are functioning. WiFi connection says ‘No internet, secured. Ethernet says ‘No internet.’I’ve tried all the fixes in the windows suggestions and in this forum. I have also rolled back windows updates. Nothing helps. My new laptop is a Surface w snapdragon X 12 core X1E80100 3.40 ghz 64 bit Windows 11 24H2 build 26100.2033 - DisplayLink Dell Giga Ethernet — Qualcomm fast connect 7800 mobile connectivit

No network adapters available - Surface Laptop (1st Generation)

Issue: No network adapters found. Can only connect to internet using wireless USB dongle.

Device: Surface Laptop (1st generation)
Windows version: 20H2 (OS Build 19042.867)

Good evening, hope everyone is healthy and well, and coping okay in these uncertain times.

I recently bought a first generation Surface Laptop (second hand) with a "WiFi issue". Thinking that this would be an easy fix, I bought it.
The only way to connect to the internet is via a USB WiFi dongle - which wouldn't have been a problem if the device had more than one USB port.

Here is a screengrab of my Device Manager:

Flight mode is also greyed-out:

List of network connections is empty when the wireless dongle is removed:

My system is up to date and sadly the device is out of warranty. I've been in touch with Microsoft Support - aside from being quoted over four hundred pounds to replace the device, they haven't been able to help me apart from helping me factory reset the device (five times!)

Can anyone help? If I've left out any technical details, please let me know and I'll gladly oblige.

I also followed the steps in the above thread, but unfortunately this didn't resolve my issue.
