Missing Multi channel audio after a recent update.

I’m running an intel based windows 11 as a HTPC and it recently won’t send multi channel audio out of any out put. There are none of the normal ways to turn it on or change the output. It is stuck only using a headphone setting. I have tried both the hdmi and the spidif connection neither is making any difference. I can get stereo sound out but that is it. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Outputting stereo content on a 5.1 multi-channel audio system

Yes, I have a DTS, but it only works with headphones and I can't possibly verify with a digital audio system. When my analog speakers are connected in multi-channel mode, the program writes: "DTS Audio Processing settings are not available while the computer is configured for a multi-channel endpoint"

I tried to download and try Dolby products, as well as DTS not from ASUS, where there were settings for "home theater" and I thought that there would be virtualization for an analog system. However, apparently, they only work with digital audio, because I can't even activate the "home theater" item.

If you can suggest, or anyone else who reads this message thread, what third-party program (even paid) for virtualizing stereo content in 5.1 audio can I watch? Or does Dolby have it, but I was looking in the wrong place?

In any case, thank you for your help, I will contact ASUS again with your message. I will also look for a third-party utility.

Changes in multi-channel audio behavior after update

    Hi

I've noticed that after the September update (KB3194496) that Windows no longer plays mono audio through the center channel of my 5.1 receiver and instead sends it to the front L+R speakers. The behavior I'm talking about is mentioned in this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/925901

This used to happen mostly on older games and other applications such as windows media player and web browsers whenever the audio stream was in mono. For example, some of the sound effects in stereo games used to be handled by the center channel whilst the
left and right provided the music etc.

I noticed that audio playback was mentioned in the notes for the update, so I'm assuming that Microsoft has decided to change this behavior, however I'm unsure as to whether it is that or my audio driver is not functioning correctly

If possible, Could someone with an analogue 5.1 receiver confirm that mono audio files no longer play through the center channel after the September update, or does anyone know exactly what the update changed in regards to audio playback?

After testing various applications, Google Chrome is now the only program that still exhibits the original behavior which I noticed after playing a Youtube video with a mono audio track

This happens on both my Audigy 2 ZS and onboard soundcard

    Thanks for any advice

EDIT: Sorted it. Just discovered that unchecking the 'Enable audio enhancements' box in the control panel sets it back the way it was before.

Outputting stereo content on a 5.1 multi-channel audio system

Hello! I already wrote in support of the motherboard manufacturer (ASUS) about this problem, I was advised to write to Microsoft support. I will duplicate here my question and answer from ASUS support.

"Hello! I'm having trouble setting up 5.1 multi-channel audio correctly on a new motherboard. Everything works properly, where there is support for 5.1 speakers, everything is reproduced as it should. But where only stereo - only the front two speakers work.

    ///The new motherboard
    (TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS) has 5 analog inputs///

On the previous PRIME A520M-A motherboard, where there were only 3 inputs, and with the multi-channel playback mode configured, Realtek Audio Console allowed virtualization to be enabled, due to which stereo sounds in the browser, games and movies were played normally on a multi-channel system on all speakers. Now there is no such setting. Is there any way to fix this without third party software?
    "

    ASUS Answer: "Dear Paul *****

Apparently you mean the software function of stereo content output via 5.1 emulation.
But since ASUS is not developing drivers, and besides the possibility of using the classic sound manager from Realtek is blocked by Microsoft, instead of which they offer their own manager, downloadable via MS Store, then I'm afraid we can't offer a solution, except to discuss it to you with Microsoft.

    Link to Realtek Audio Control:

Realtek Audio Control — приложения Microsoft Store

Please note, due to Microsoft's security policy it is no longer possible to use the classic Realtek audio console and to configure the sound parameters."

Please tell me how to solve this problem? Even if I need to buy third-party software for this, because I don’t want to change the audio system.
