    Wanna ask why windows 11 unable to set metric for default gateway for ip 172.16.16.1?I try it on win10 is okayfor 172.16.16.1, i try to set metric for ip 192.168.x.x, 172.16.10.10, 172.16.16.2 also okay for win11.but win11 with 172.16.16.1 not work, after set, it will change back which is "AUTO". May i know how to change it in this case, and what cause it?Thank you.

    Windows 10 values interface metric more than route metric, how do I fix this?

    I recently installed Radmin VPN, which added a high-metric default route and set its virtual adapter's interface metric to 0. Unfortunately so long as I keep the fake default route to 26.0.0.1, my internet connection is slowed as it for some reason tries that route first. I have the metric for that route set to 9999 (+1 from interface) and my metric for my Ethernet gateway is 0 (+25 from interface). According to documentation and everything else I know this means that it should choose to direct all non-local and non-VPN packets through the Ethernet, but...

    If I configure the Radmin VPN Interface's metric to 1 (like it does every time I turn Radmin VPN on), then it keeps selecting the fake Radmin VPN gateway instead of my Ethernet cable's gateway, and as a result my connections take forever. As for why I need a default gateway to Radmin VPN, Windows 10 doesn't allow a network to be identified without a default gateway, and I need the interface metric at 1 so that it prioritizes searching for and broadcasting LAN games over the VPN.

    route with the same metric in the routing table.

    I was recently trying to troubleshoot an IP network issue. I had given the Ethernet port on my Laptop (Win 10 Pro) the IP address of the kit that had problems communicating. The IP address was set to aaa.bbb.ccc.241, the subnet mask 255.255.255.248, and
    the default gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.244. O set the DNS to OpenDNS's IP addresses. I could not PING any device out of the subnet I was on. I checked the settings in Control Panel and my typing was correct.

    However, doing "ipconfig /all" indicated that there were two default gateways aaa.bbb.ccc.244 and 0.0.0.0. This looked strange, but I checked on another PC (Win 7 Pro) I had with me, and it also showed two default gateways, so I thought it must be right.
    After more unsuccessful troubleshooting I thought again about the two default gateways. "route print" showed quite a few entries, but two of them were:

    Destination 0.0.0.0 Netmask 0.0.0.0 Gateway 0.0.0.0 and Destination 0.0.0.0 Netmask 0.0.0.0 Gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.244 Checking through control panel only indicated one default gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.244. I did a "route -f" and the 0.0.0.0 gateway entry disappeared,
    as did the network problems I was trying to troubleshoot. Can anyone suggest what might have caused the rogue default gateway entry? Was it something I did? I see that many moons ago a similar issue was believed to have been caused by Apple’s Bonjour software
    or Adobe CS3; niether of which I have ever installed (to my knowledge anyway).
