Windows 10: Windows Update Deletes all Visio files

This is the third time a Windows update has deleted files from My Documents - in particular, Visio files. It occurs when Visio is left open I put the laptop to sleep and next morning, I find an update has occured and all traces of the recent open Visio files and all the work put into them are gone. They are not iun the recycle bin. No other profiles or Windows.old folders. They files are just wiped from extistance.Whatr is going on?

First step is to uninstall Visio 2013 from the current computer it is installed on.

Click Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features

Scroll through the list

Select Visio 2013

Click Uninstall

Proceed to install Visio 2013 on the new computer

If you don't have the reinstall media for Visio 2013, you can download it from the following link:

After reinstall Visio, you will likely need to contact support to reactivate it since it was previously installed and in use on another computer.

I request you to set the default program option to Internet explorer for the Visio file formats.

Follow the steps below:

• Go to Control panel > Default programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
• Specify the default program to Internet explorer for Visio file formats.

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
