  1. Does Upgrading W10 to W11 always install BitLocker Encryption on Your C Drive?

BACKGROUND:My W10 Desktop Computer only has a Local AccountWhile My W11 Laptop was installed using my Microsoft Account, and I later added a Local Account. Why am I asking this question?I wanted to do a Windows 11 Defender Offline Scan, but I had to turn off encryption for that to work. When I turned off Encryption on my W11 Laptop, I had to sign into my laptop using my MS Account -- in order to re-encrypt it. I guess it somehow used my BitLocker recovery Key which was stored on my MS Account under the Laptop Devie’s Name. So, if my desktop only has a Local Account’ how do I re-encrypt it af

    :)

  2. Data Recovery in Bitlocker Encrypted Drive

Today my home laptop system asked for bit locker password after booting up (before login). Bit locker encryption was not enabled by me. However, to make the computer usable, C drive was formatted since there was no critical data in C Drive. However D Drive is still encrypted.

    Kindly confirm

    1. Can Bitlocker Encryption be enabled without intervention of the user?
    2. Where to find the bitlocker encryption key?
    3. How to recover the Data in Encrypted D Drive?

  4. Does Upgrading W10 to W11 always install BitLocker Encryption on Your C Drive?

Can't get Bitlocker to encrypt C: drive

    Hi,

Windows 10 1903 on a Dell XPS 8700, no TPM. Did a clean install of Win 10, can't make Bitlocker encrypt. Have done this at least twice before, once on this computer (It worked fine. I wiped hard drive, installed Linux, coming back to Win 10. Also encrypted a laptop with TPM).

Tried all setup combinations I could think of, entered password, restarted, eventually getting this error message:

Does Upgrading W10 to W11 always install BitLocker Encryption on Your C Drive? 246917d1568134845t-cant-get-bitlocker-encrypt-c-drive-bitlockernotenabled.jpg

Not sure I did this image right. It says this:

    Bitlocker could not be enabled
The data drive specified is not set to automatically unlock on the current computer and cannot be unlocked automatically.
    C: was not encrypted

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Stan
