Converting a physical server to a virtual machine (VM) on Hyper-V is called Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) migration. This process is important for consolidating servers, recovering from disasters, and updating old systems. Virtualizing a physical server can help you save money on hardware, use resources more effectively, simplify backups, and make your IT operations more flexible. In […]

  2. Hyper-V host physical disk not available to VM in Server 2022 and Win 11 arm64

    Hi.

I have a problem with Hyper-V in Windows Server 2022 x64 and Windows 11 arm64. In these specific cases, it seems to be impossible to attach physical disks directly to a VM. No other Windows versions or architecture combinations seem to have this issue.

In other cases, it is possible to simply offline the disk in Disk Management and then it is available to select in the physical hard disk dropdown box in VM settings. But not in Windows Server 2022 x64 or Windows 11 arm64. The dropdown box is always grayed out even if there are offline disks.

Am I missing something else here or is this a bug of some sort?

Unassign Hyper V VM with deleted User account

Hyper V is not assigned based on user accounts.

Hyper V is a server feature that allows you to create VMs but they are not assigned to users.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to?

And then share on a cloud drive and post link here for me to look at?

Also what are the steps you are doing to "assign" the VM to another User?

Hyper-V VMs physically on separate subnets - howto

I'm setting up Windows Server 2016 Standard.

My objective is to have 2 VMs that are connected into their own subnet for a testbed.

I've read about the internal switches, etc. but don't see how to make a physical connection to each of the subnets AND be independent.

(Perhaps the testbed objectives are a bit different than a typical production network).

I am imagining adding a couple of NICs so there will be:

A NIC for the Hyper-V manager.

A NIC for each of the subnets.
