Clipchamp Screen Record Blocked

Hello, I've been using Clipchamp to record and edit videos for a while now. Up until recently I was adding in audio recorded separately as an MP4 and then importing it.

Prior to using a microphone I could click on Record Screen, a small record button would appear in the bottom left, then when I clicked it I would be able to select which screen.

Since using a microphone but when it is disconnected, the record button now brings up a 'splash screen' that says "Ready to roll?" in the centre, with "1. Hit the big red button." and "2. Choose a screen, tab, or app to record." underneath.

At the bottom of this splash screen is a drop down for selecting a microphone with no options, a red record button that is greyed out and un-clickable, a greyed out box for speaker coach, an info button that says about connecting a mic to record audio, and underneath that a note saying recording is limited to 30 minutes. There are no other options on this screen (other than a cross to close it), so no way to start recording. I just want it back the way it was before so I can record screen when I want, without having to use a mic every time as that's not always needed.

There are no real settings within Clipchamp itself that seem able to do anything. I tried going into my PC's settings>apps>Microsoft Clipchamp, and disabling the mic, repairing and resetting Clipchamp, and none of these options have restored the functionality.

Has anyone had a similar issue or know how to fix it?

UPDATE: Steps Recorder is no longer being updated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. For screen recording, we recommend the Snipping Tool, Xbox Game Bar, or Microsoft Clipchamp.

Allow me to ask:

1. What error message are you getting?
   
2. Can I ask for a screenshot of your concern?
   
3. Is this happening to other devices, browsers, and networks?
   

If you’re encountering issues, here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. End Task and Relaunch:
   
   • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
     
   • In the Processes tab, right-click on Clipchamp and select End task.
     
2. Repair or Reset:
   
   • Go to Settings (press Win + I) and choose Apps.
     
   • Find and click on Clipchamp, then select Advanced options.
     
3. Close Unnecessary Programs:
   
   • Close any other unnecessary programs on your PC that might interfere with Clipchamp’s performance.
     
4. Try using another device:
   
   • Try using another device and check if the issue persists.
     

Give these steps a try, and hopefully, Clipchamp will be up and running smoothly again! I hope it helps!
