Microsoft Fixes Bluetooth Visibility Bug on Windows 11 Enterprise Devices

Microsoft released an out-of-band hotpatch, KB5084897, to address a Bluetooth visibility issue on Windows 11 Enterprise devices enrolled in the hotpatch update program. The update, launched on Monday, installs automatically and does not require a restart.

The problem prevents connected Bluetooth devices from appearing in Windows Settings under Bluetooth & Devices or in Quick Settings, even if they are working properly. Users affected by the bug are also unable to add new Bluetooth devices because they do not show up in the connection list.

Affected Windows 11 Enterprise Versions for KB5084897

KB5084897 is applicable to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 on Enterprise editions with hotpatch enabled. The update won't install on Enterprise devices that are receiving standard cumulative updates. It includes all enhancements and security patches from the March 2026 Windows hotpatch release.

Second Windows 11 Enterprise OOB Hotpatch in Three Days

This is the second out-of-band hotpatch from Microsoft for Windows 11 Enterprise in less than a week. On Friday, Microsoft released KB5084597 to address three high-severity vulnerabilities in the Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), which could allow an attacker with domain credentials to execute malicious code by convincing a user to connect to a malicious server via the RRAS snap-in.

Hotpatch updates fix issues by applying patches directly to running processes in memory while also updating files on disk, so the patches remain effective after a reboot without requiring an immediate restart.

The KB5084897 hotpatch update was released on March 17, 2026, and is now rolling out automatically to qualified devices.

Bluetooth disappears from Windows 11 (laptop) after pairing with new device

    Hello

I have had no problems with Bluetooth on Windows 11 22H2 previously on this specific laptop.

Recently however I had tried to add my new Logitech K380 Bluetooth keyboard. Upon pairing with it, after a few minutes, the following was observed:

    • Bluetooth ON-OFF button/option was not visible on the action center
    • Bluetooth ON-OFF button/option was not visible in the settings app
    • Bluetooth was not visible on Device manager (even under hidden devices)
I had tried the following but failed.

    • Restarting windows.
    • Troubleshooting via settings app
    • Trying to add legacy device through device manager
    • Checking for updates but none were available at the time
    • Uninstalling some updates whichever was visible inside the settings app.
    • Resetting windows but with the option of keeping my data
    • tried to install the respective drivers from the logitech website
    • tinkering with services in windows
Only upon resetting my laptop with the option of NOT keeping my data that I was able to see the Bluetooth button in action center, settings, etc.

Please suggest some suggestion as to what can be done. Much appreciated. Thank you.

    Permanently visible to Bluetooth devices

Hello, If Bluetooth is on, there is an option in Win10 via 'devices>bluetooth and other devices>more bluetooth settings>bluetooth settings/options' under 'detection' to check or uncheck "bluetooth devices can find this pc" which makes the pc visible or not visible to bluetooth devices. This feature does not work. regardless of whether I have this option checked or not my PC is visible to all bluetooth devices. In Windows 10, for both my HP Elitebook and the W10 on Windows bootcamp on my iMac, I have "devices can find this PC" unchecked. Yet both devices are findable with the greatest of ease. I have checked and unchecked it a few times but it makes no difference. Anyone have an idea what the problem could be? Is there any other way to be invisible to unpaired devices? Microsoft Making it Better with Bluetooth Technology v4.0

Microsoft's Windows 8 announcement introduces native support for Bluetooth v4.0. Bluetooth v4.0 enabled products running the Windows 8 operating system, such as the new Surface tablet, will be Bluetooth Smart Ready products, enabling them to connect to familiar Bluetooth devices, like wireless speakers, and to the next generation of ultra power-efficient Bluetooth Smart products now coming to market.

Last weeks' Microsoft announcement is an acknowledgement of the massive Bluetooth ecosystem and strong consumer demand for secure, convenient wireless connectivity the technology provides," said Suke Jawanda, Bluetooth SIG CMO. "With Bluetooth v4.0 incorporated into the Windows operating system, hardware and software developers will have increased opportunities to provide new devices, applications, and services for their customers. Securely feeding web services and applications with cloud friendly data via a Bluetooth connection is a key component in the shift to cloud computing and more broadly, the Internet of Things."

OS-level support for Bluetooth 4.0 technology in Windows 8 allows hardware and software developers to tap into the billions-strong market of Bluetooth products in a scalable way. App developers will be able to use an API to feed data collected from Bluetooth Smart low-energy sensors, like a fitness monitor or medical device, to an application running on a Bluetooth Smart Ready product like the Microsoft Surface.

The launch of Bluetooth v4.0 unleashed a wave of new Bluetooth Smart and Smart Ready devices which provide manufactures and developers the opportunity to create the next generation of devices and software applications that will transform the way consumers interact with their technology. Microsoft is the latest in a list of companies utilizing Bluetooth v4.0 and the technology's low energy capabilities, a list that also includes major brands like Nike, Samsung, Panasonic, Nintendo, Sony and Ford, among others. Bluetooth technology's massive ecosystem is expected to expand remarkably within the next five years reaching 20 billion cumulative Bluetooth enabled device shipments by 2017.
