Windows 10: Monitor Not Waking Up After Sleep

I am experiencing a critical issue - when my computer goes into sleep mode, or if I manually place it in sleep mode, the monitor will not wake. The PC is running; I can hear the fan and the light on the front of the monitor is on, but the monitor itself will not wake. The only way I can get the computer back on is to do a hard reset by holding in the power button, turning it off, then back on. I've tried all the obvious fixes; windows updates, graphic card driver updates, unplugging, turning off sleep mode, turning off Link State Power Management ,making sure the keyboard or the mouse are able to wake the computer in settings, etc. Nothing so far has worked. Any suggestions on how to fix or what the problem may be?
An additional problem is that I cannot even save some new settings in my motherboard. Somehow the settings return to the default settings and the problem remains. The PC purchased brand new almost 4 months ago.

CPU Intel Core i5 8600k 3.60GHz
Graphic Card (integrated): Intel ® UHD Graphics 630
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3
OS: WINDOWS 64 BIT

External laptop monitor won't wake up after sleep

External 32" Benq monitor attached to 15" Dell laptop won't wake up after sleep. Have to turn it off and back on every time. Laptop, external keyboard and other peripherals are up an running after laptop wake up. Did not have this problem with any other
Win 10 laptop/ external monitor combo.

Specs: Dell XPS 9550, i7 6th gen, Win 10 64 bit, 16Gb RAM, 1Tb SSD, 2Gb NVIDIA GTX 960M. Everything up to date.

 

Desktop PC Monitor won't wake up in Windows 10

I have the same problem. Configuration and other information:

• Dell XPS8300 with 16 GB of memory and two 2 TB hard drives and two monitors
  
• Bought in 2011
• Originally had Windows XP
• Upgraded (forced by Microsoft) on March 7, 2016 (i.e., almost 11 months ago)
• Second hard drive and second monitor are add-on's done several years ago (definitely before Windows 10)
• I often leave computer on overnight; the computer does not sleep when I do that, but the monitors both sleep after a while. When I wake them (usually by hitting Shift a couple of times) I enter my password to get back in.
• I did that this morning, but the monitors did not wake up. I tried many times with a varied number of different keystrokes and mouse movements - monitors still sleeping.
• Note: the system is set for automatic Microsoft maintenance updates.
• I know for sure that the system is not sleeping (just the monitors sleeping) because:
  • Disk activity light is active (slowly and randomly)
  • The power light is white, not yellow.
  • There is power to an add-on USB3 card.
  • I can access the disk form another (networked) computer. (Regular old style networking, not homegroup), and look at directories and edit file, etc.
    

So, the system is up, and doing things. It's just that the monitors are not working; they did not come back when I tried to use the computer after they (the monitors) went to sleep overnight.
