Windows Defender not updating to the latest definitions.

Bit of a strange one here, for the past 3 days I have not been unable to update to the latest definitions whether it be through Windows Update, Windows Defender, manual updates or through using a command prompt.

The latest definition I had was 1.271.815.0 on 11th July.

After using a command prompt I removed all prior definitions and it automatically updated to 1.271.760.0 from 10th July,

Attempts to since update this to the latest definitions have thrown up the usual error messages,

Windows Defender says protection updates are "up to date".

    I have a Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 version 1703.

    Thanks!

    Windows Defender Definition Updates.

Thank you Elba for the prompt reply. However, there is a problem: In "Control Panel" under the "Programs and Features" page > "View Installed Updates" the " Windows Defender Definition Updates" are NOT listed. Consequently, I cannot delete/uninstall them.
The same thing happens when I use "Settings" >" Updates & Security" > "View Update History". Here the Definition Updates are all listed but I can't uninstall them either. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again, Fred
