Windows 10: Notepad document erased after saved many times plz help

lost a chapter please help me recover document. possible sabotage.

Notepad document was empty when I pulled it back up, on desktop. searched the entire drive no restore point and no document recovery.

First time using Notepad

I have used Notepad numerous times and was once a newby. If you have not found the answer by now, (I see this post is 5 months old), in the Notepad window in the upper left is "File". Click on it, then in the dropdown, select "Save
As". Another window will come up that has your Downloads, Documents, Pictures, etc., on the left. I like to save to Documents. Click on Documents. At the bottom of that same window will be a blank rectangle with "Save As" to the left of it. In that blank rectangle
will be "Untitled" highlighted in blue. Start typing in the name you want the name of the note to be, like maybe "things to do Saturday", or Grocery List. Whatever. in the bottom left will be a button that says "Save". Click on it and the Notepad note or document
will be saved to Documents folder under the name you gave it. Hope this helps.

 

I CAN NOT SAVE ANY DATA IN NOTEPAD.

when trying to save notepad info I am directed to documents with the item listed as a text document. if I click on save nothing shows up in documents.

Microsoft Notepad is a word processing tool included with Windows and is installed by default under the Accessories program group. If you want to create notes using Notepad, follow these steps:

• In the Cortana search bar, type Notepad.
• From the search results of Cortana, select Notepad.
• In the Notepad window, type your notes.
• If you're ready to save the Notepad file, click File.
• Choose Save as.
• On the Save as window, select the location where you want to save the Notepad file.
• In the File name text box, type the name of the Notepad file.
• Click Save.
