Windows 10: system restore 0x80070005

I know there are many threads about this, I'm still looking and have been searching the internets
in earnest. But I'm hoping if I describe the things that influence the outcome somebody may have an
idea.
1)Panda Free anti virus was once installed, but no longer. I discovered the problem after it had been
uninstalled for a number of days.

2) System restore works in Safemode and also from the Windows RE (f10 key at start up)

3) It also works if I reinstall Panda anti virus.

4) Uninstalling Panda and reverting to Defender breaks it, this is confirmed now.

I did try the the reset under Recovery/Reset this PC (keep files). This did not affect the problem.
I may be looking at a repair install next. Tried DISM /restore-health and SFC /scannow to no effect

EDIT disabling WD using group policy also allows SR to finish properly

System Restore Fails Error 0x80070005


So I try to restore any point and get an error:





I have turned off Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.

I also did a sfc /scannow with no integrity violations.

Running Windows 10 Pro 64bit... Any suggestions?

Hi, the error suggests a conflicting program (e.g. AV).
However this may not necessarily be so.

I found sthg like turning off system restore (to remove any existing restore points), then stopping Volume Shadow Copy service and restarting it helped.

 

Highly frustrated from not succeeding in System Restore Error 0x80070005

Dears,

since I built up my laptop, a Lenovo W540, with new Win10 1803 build 17134.48 build, I realized the machine is not able to restore from a selected restore point.

I tried several solutions but anyone worked for me.

The error message I got every time I try a restore for a restore point (I crated systematically before)

I am quite frustrated not to say desperate also because Win10 installation is reaaly brand new !

It’s driving me crazy !
