Need help removing a profile from my PC

Greetings. I will do my best to try briefly explaining the situation here. Yesterday my younger brother created a new account on my PC without my permission. Before that happened, there was no account connected to the device. I spent the better part of the day trying to remove it, but was unable to. It was a gmail email, and when I tried to do anything, Windows service insisted that it wants to send a confirmation email to the gmail account before doing anything. Which usually wouldn't be a problem, but for some reason Google failed to recognize the gmail as an active e-mail address, no matter what I tried.

To make matters worse, I did something really stupid, tinkered with the settings (running the netplwiz command) and removed the administrator from the account, thinking it would make it easier to remove. What that did instead is leaving the entire PC without admin, which is not something I thought was possible to happen.

After that, I talked to a Windows support agent via chat, who consulted with tech support on their end, and basically they told me I have two options to resolve the situation: either to a clean reinstall of the OS (which is an absolute last resort for me) or somehow find a way to recover the gmail account, after that it could be removed from the device. The agent confirmed in the conversation that once the account is removed, the default state (of no profiles) would resume administrator rights.

Well, today I decided to create a new gmail email account with the same name as the one used for the PC profile. And it worked, Windows sent the confirmation code and I was able to verify the account. Before taking any extra measures, I decided to talk to the Windows support again. This time however I received different information: the only option they gave me for resolving this is to make a reinstall of the OS, which is not something I want to do just yet. I asked if I could simply follow instructions on this page to close the account (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12412/microsoft-account-how-to-close-account), but they replied it would not help with the removing it on my device.

Can someone help me out here? I just want to get rid of all account on the PC, and restore my admin rights without having to reinstall everything because it's a major inconvenience for me. Thanks in advance.

    :)

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done *Smile I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
