Windows 10: Game DVR is not recording all of my audio

So Game DVR has been my main source of recording moments during games for me. A couple of months ago it was working fine, recording all my audio [Game audio, Discord audio (my friend's voices) and my mic's audio]. Everything can be heard in the clips.

As of recently, Game DVR would only record either my Game Audio, and Discord and wouldn't record my voice. I tried searching for solutions on man different sites but couldn't really find any.
I ended up being able to record my voice and game audio but if I did that, my Discord audio wouldn't get recorded.

Heres my settings if that helps



and on the game bar settings under "Audio to record" the option "All" is selected.
But clearly not all of my audio is being recorded.


I really hope to find out how to fix this or if windows just doesnt allow the recording of all of the audio anymore.

The Audio Settings in the Game DVR can be changed so you can disable the Audio when recording game clips. To do that, follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows + G on your keyboard.
• Click the Settings icon and go to Audio tab.
• Uncheck Record audio when I record game clips.

You also have an option if you want to enable or disable audio from your microphone. In the
Audio settings, you can check or uncheck Record my microphone next time I record a game.

Game DVR not recording game audio


Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a fix for ages now, but all forum threads I found were talking about the Game DVR recording no audio at all, while I can hear my microphone, but nothing else *Wink I've tried changing the audio quality, restarting my pc and even recording different games, but there was no game audio to be heard anywhere. If you have any ideas how to fix this I'd be very grateful!

Try Full-Screen Mode:

Sometimes you'll get an error "There's nothing to record" when running a game in windowed mode. It'll refuse to run unless the game is in full-screen mode. You'll have to change the settings in your game to get it to fill screen. Another option is to
press Alt-Enter and that may switch it to full screen.

You won't see the game bar in full screen so you'll need to use your shortcuts to start/stop recording.

According to that article you need to press these keys in sequence to start recording. Other keyboard shortcuts won't work.

• Windows + Alt + G
• Windows + Alt + R

Restart GAME DVR Task:

• Open up the Task Manager (Right click on the taskbar and go to Task Manager OR Press Windows-X and then press T)
• Find the DVR Server task (bcastdvr.exe). Click it and go to End Task.

Delete Temporary Files:

• Open Settings App and go to System
• Go to Storage and choose This PC
• Scroll down and find Temporary files
• Click on it and then click on Delete temporary files.

This process may take a while to complete - it all depends on how many you have. Wait until it's complete and then reboot your PC and try again.

Change the Shortcut Keys:

Sometimes it's possible that the shortcut keys are blocked by another program - you can't record by pressing Windows + Alt + R for example.

You can change these or assign a secondary shortcut by:

• Start menu
• Xbox
• Settings
• Game DVR
• Keyboard shortcuts

Reinstall or Upgrade Your Graphics Card Drivers:

Visit your graphics card manufacturer's website, locate your model and download the latest drivers. Install/reinstall them, reboot and try the DVR again.
