  1. Win 10 Task Scheduler Job Fails When Using "Run whether user is logged on or not"

Switching from Win 7 to Win 10, I went to set up a job in task scheduler which failed. I am now just trying to run a simple command "winver.exe". When I run it with "Run only when user is logged on", it works fine. When I switch it to "Run whether user is logged on or not" and "Run with highest privileges" selected, it doesn't execute, even though the Task History showed it executed successfully. Is this a windows bug or something I'm doing wrong? Any help will be appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Syberwired.

How to run concurrent batch jobs in task scheduler

    1) is there a setting in task scheduler to kick them all off at once, not in sequence

not as far as I know, but the start command should trigger the command (or other batch file) and move on, so there should only be a fraction of a second between them.

    2) is there a way to force task scheduler to run the job as my user instead of admin

in task scheduler, on the general tab untick 'run with highest privileges' - the task will then run as AJ ANNING, with that users privileges. you can change the user by clicking the 'change user or group' button on the General tab.

perhaps I should have suggested this earlier, but you might get better answers by asking the question in the

Task Scheduler jobs not working after Anniversary Update

    Hi Mark and Mahindar,

Thank you so much for sharing how this issue has affected you, the errors you have seen and the details of your configuration.

As investigation has suggested there is an issue with the user credentials for the user account executing the task (the LoginExEx error), I've tried configuring the settings a little more explicitly and
the tasks now seem to be working on my machine.

Here are the steps if you would like to try:

    • Open the task properties. On the "general" tab, under "Security options/When running the task, use the following user account", click the "change user or group" button

    • Click the "advanced" button at the bottom left of the new "select user" window.

    • In the new "select user/search" window, leave the details as they are and just click search.
    • In the search results at the bottom of this window, scroll down and select the "SYSTEM" user. Click "OK" to close the "select user/search" window, then click "OK" again to close the "select user" window.
    • Now the task properties "general" tab should be visible as the top window again, with "NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM" showing under "When running the task, use the following user account". The options for "Run only when user is logged on" and "Run whether user is
logged in or not" will be greyed-out. (I have my tasks set to run hidden, with highest user privileges, configured for Windows 10.)
    • Click OK. Restart the machine.

I hope this helps you both and anyone who encounters the same issue of Task Scheduler jobs not working after installation of Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

(As I posted earlier, there are a couple of other steps I took while investigating the problem on my machine, so if the steps above don't solve the issue please let me know and I'll try to help figure out what else might be important.)

Thank you again and best regards,

    Victoria
