Windows 10: Desktop Icons & Taskbar out of view

I didn't turn off my computer last night. Just my monitor was in sleep mode. I came back to it this morning to find that my task bar and my desktop icons are just out of view. you can barely see them. I will post a screenshot of what i see in a minute. I've already checked my screen resolution. It's still at the recommended 1920x1080 and even if i change it to a smaller res it make the desktop icons visible but the taskbar at bottom is still out of view. something is not right. I have no idea what happened. I don't have any restore points. For some reason all my drives were set to off. so i have no idea how to fix this issue.

Desktop icons moved to taskbar menu

Please try this:

• Right click an empty part of the Desktop and choose 'View' - Show Desktop Icons
• Right click the Taskbar, select 'Toolbars' and uncheck Desktop

 

System Icons on taskbar

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.
