Windows 10: Microsoft 365 upgrade from Windows 10 home?

if a business select Mocrosoft 365, but has laptops installed with Win 10 home, can Microsoft 365 be used to upgrade the laptops to Win 10 pro or does that only apply to pro versions of previous Windows editions lime 7 and 8?

Microsoft to push automatic Windows 10 upgrades in 2016

"Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be automatically rolled out next year to all users of its older operating systems who have selected to receive updates.

Until now, users of Windows 7 and 8 have needed to register to upgrade to Windows 10. But that's about to change: soon the OS will be listed as an 'Optional Update' and -- from 2016 -- a 'recommended' update that will automatically install itself, if users have opted to receive updates in that way.*Shadedshun :shadedshu:

You can opt out of automatic updates to avoid this, but Microsoftsays that "we strongly discourage this in today’s connected world because of the constant risk of internet threats". You can also change your Windows Update settings to install critical updates but not recommended ones. Although it's still going to be possible to avoid installation, Microsoft seems quite determined for everyone to be using Windows 10 in near future.


The roll-out of reserved updates was initially staggered but, according to Microsoft, now Windows "will automatically kick off the upgrade process once you have made a reservation".

As an intermediate stage, Microsoft says that it will "soon" publish Windows 10 as an optional update, not installed by default, but accessible to all users."

I've still not seen any confirmation from Microsoft that Windows will become a subscription service. Also, you can buy office products without the Office 365 subscription service. Office 365 is like a lease program for the Office suite. Businesses know what it will cost them annually. That constant, as well as knowing their software won't get outdated, can make Office 365 appealing. I would never recommend Office 365 to people/businesses that don't rely on it. Those that do though should consider it because it ends up costing about the same as buying the new version outright every time it launches.

Yeah, Windows XP was discontinued so corporations felt they had to upgrade. Windows 8/8.1 was garbage and they knew they'd never hear the end of user complaints. Their only upgrade option was Windows 7. Windows 10 should have been Windows 8.1 but no, Microsoft wanted to ram Metro down everyone's throats. They couldn't be more wrong and it likely cost them billions; hence, why Balmer got the boot and Windowizing Windows with 10 is happening.

it would've been great if microsoft added HEVC decoders, LAV filters along with other codecs with Windows 10, and developing WMP to be better than VLC, KMPlayer and such sorts of media players.

Nevertheless, this is good step for microsoft, by far.
