Windows 10: Strange Sounds From Speakers

A few weeks ago I started hearing strange sounds coming my speakers. These sounds are fairly loud and vary.



The first sound is a tapping sound and it lasts for a few seconds and stops. Then I hear a sound like cards being shuffled on a video game about 5 seconds after the tapping stops. It repeats after I am through typing in something.


So it 14 taps, always 14 taps, then the shuffling sound about 5 seconds later.



Once in awhile it sounds like a small dog barking and a table or chair being moved across the floor and/or someone sighing loudly or coughing a couple of time.


Everyone in the house has heard these sounds and they are hear this even though nothing is being played. All the sounds such as the log on/off sounds have been disabled.


I have tried to find out if I am still logged in to a site and am not getting logged out properly.


I have checked processes and cannot find any that should not be on.


There are no devices on my pc that should not be there.


My audio files and device are up to date.


I used netsh and checked profiles. No other profiles on this pc.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.
