Windows 10: Windows Hello does not show me facial recognition set up after removing it.

I just updated my SP4 a couple weeks ago and the facial recognition sign-in stopped working. Under the setting -> Sign-in options it says "Windows Hello is preventing some options from being shown.


After I saw that I tried multiple methods to fix it.

1. I tried the device manager -> surface camera windows hello -> roll back driver but that did not work because it was grayed out for me.

Surface Camera Windows hello driver version is 1.0.85.1 (driver update 8/1/2017


2. I tried the device manager-> surface camera windows hello -> update driver-> browse for a driver on your computer but only showed one available option and chose that but did not work. It remained the same driver version and date.


3. I tried the run -> gpedit.msc -> enable biometric but nothing changed for me.


4. I removed the existing facial recognition in the Windows hello setup then... It disappeared. (picture below)


5. I uninstalled the surface camera windows hello drive and reinstalled but it the same driver version and date.


If anyone can help me, it will be greatly appreciated! thank you in advance!

  On the
  Start
  button, go to
  Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  
• 
  Under
  Windows Hello, choose
  camera setup option.
  
• 
  Select
  Remove
  to delete or remove the previous facial recognition setup.
  
• 
  To setup a new facial recognition setup, go to
  Set Up > Get Started.
  
• 
  Follow the instructions to scan your face and click
  Finish.

Windows 10 Camera app?

• Under Picture password, click Remove.

However, we have yet to include the option to turn off Facial Recognition feature in Windows 10 Camera app. We suggest that you

• Open the Windows 10 Camera app.
• Click the Gear icon located at the upper right corner of the screen.
• Scroll down, click Send Feedback.

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we will know why the facial recognition quit working:

• Have you recently made any changes/updates prior to this issue?
• Is there an error message when you try to sign using facial recognition?
• What is the make and model of your computer?

In the meantime, I would suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps in this
article.
