Windows 10: Long delay before password entry box is shown on logon screen.

Laptop with Windows 10 Home 64 bit.


This is an old laptop and the CPU benchmark is around 2,000. It has 4 GB of RAM and 5,400 RPM hard drive. It runs most of the errands fine. However, recently it started to slow down significantly at the logon screen. Once it wakes up, I click or press Enter to start log on process. It takes 30-45 seconds for the password entry box is shown.


Once I logged on, things appear to be normal. I have done extensive check for virus and nothing was found (multiple anti-virus and anti-malware scans).


What can I do to troubleshoot it?

How to pick what domain users are shown on the logon screen list?


What I am trying to do is select certain domain accounts to be shown as clickable avatars on the logon screen. These would be static users that I pick to be displayed on there and then of course the "other" selection to logon to a user not in the list.

 

Long delay at the login screen

When I boot up my laptop there's a long delay before I can type in the password. By long delay, about 1-2 minutes. During this delay, the login screen is blue and is completely unresponsive. I can't click on anything on the screen except for the turn off
at the bottom. The keyboard appears to be responsive - caps lock/num lock lights go on and off. Sometimes it goes back to the welcome screen with some picture. Then after about 1-2 minutes it suddenly starts working and I can type in my password at which point
everything appears to work normally.

 

Mapped network drives do not connect at logon in vista with automatic logon enabled

I have vista x64 . I have some mapped network drives . They get connected when i enter the password at logon screen. Now i enabled automatic logon in vista and they do not connect anymore . I have to double click on them and enter the password manually .

Windows displays the message "Could not connect to all drives" at logon .

They used to connect automatically in xo with automatic logon enabled.

My logon password is the same as the administrator password with which i can connect to these drives .
