Windows 10: full scan defender stalls at 2 hours and 54 minutes

windows 10 version 1803 , yes the scan stalls even if i turn the screen and hard drives to never shut off. I first thought that maybe it was going to sleep, This seems to be happening with other version of windows 10 on my computer. So when i touch mouse pad on the notebook it finishes the scan. I came back after `14 hours and the scan said 2:54 and i touched the mouse pad and finished the scan at like 3:10 or something. That is 2 hours and like 54 minutes.

This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Search and open Schedule tasks.
  
• 
  In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
  Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.
  
• 
  Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.
  
• 
  Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.

Windows Defender - Quick Scan

Windows defender no longer offers a quick scan option.

My options are:

• Scan
• Advanced Scan

• Full Scan
• Custom Scan
• Windows Defender Offline scan

Whichever option I check, the scan will need to run for hours to complete.

Is a quick scan available?

How do I restore this feature?

 

defender wont finish scan

I can start a full scan on defender but it stalls at file 1010300 every time. this scan has been running for over 14 hours but is still stuck on this file.

How can I get a complete scan?
