Windows 10: Deleteing the orginial Admin account completely in Windows 10 (2018)

I bought the laptop and realized it is not a good fit. Cleaning up/deleting my data so I can return it and get a better one for my needs.

Installed: 11/3/2018

OS Build: 17134.407


Problem - deleting my admin account.

based on the online instructions I have

1 - created another user, then gave the user Admin status.

2 - there was no delete option when logged in as Alt Admin

3 - In Control Panel - was able to delete original Admin - no longer can see it in control panel.

4 - can still see original Admin in Settings/Accounts/Users

5 - Unable to delete in Command Prompt - getting error - System Error 5 - access is denied.

6 - looking at net users in command prompt - original admin is still in control (DefaultAccount) and Alt Admin is Guest (WDAGUtilityAccount)


Please Help! What is my next step? have to return computer asap

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

 

Remove account


I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

Deleting User Accounts

If you can access the admin account through safe mode then all you have to do to remove the other account passwords is go into User Accounts in the control panel and either delete the accounts or, I'm not sure, remove the account passwords.
