Windows 10: Unable to use zoom tools on GIF files

Good afternoon,


I'm unable to use Microsoft Photos zoom tools on GIF files. I have attached two GIF files. One is an image from WikiMedia Commons; the other is a screenshot of Microsoft Photos viewing the first file with the zoom tool grayed out. The screenshot was created with the Snipping Tool utility.


I tried clicking the grayed out icon, double clicking, using control and the mouse wheel, using control with '+', and using control with '-'. I also tried switching the mouse wheel setting to "Zoom in and out", resetting the app from Settings, restarting the computer, using a different computer (with the same version of Windows), and various other GIF files.


I am running Microsoft Windows Version 1803, OS Build 17134.407 and Microsoft Photos version 2018.18091.17210.0.


As a workaround, Microsoft Paint will display and zoom GIF files.

Badly zoomed in on all Office products and Explorer

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• If you have a mouse with a wheel, hold down the Ctrl key, and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out.
• From the keyboard, you can increase or decrease the zoom value in 10% increments. To zoom in, press Ctrl + (+). To zoom out, press Ctrl + (-). To restore the zoom to 100%, press Ctrl+0.

Zoom in Adobe

• Click Edit | Preferences.
• Choose the Page Display category.
• Under the heading labeled "Default Layout and Zoom," find
  Zoom. Choose the desired default zoom option from the menu.

TPU Capture Auto Zoom

Not sure where else to post this since it isn't listed in the TPU Software section. But when I hit print screen it instantly zooms in. If I try to take a fullscreen shot it only takes the zoomed in window. Any ideas here?
