  1. High CPU usage from Service host local system (2)

    Windows 10 up to date

    HP Probook 450 G2

    CPU: Intel i5

    SSD: 150Mb

    NIC: dual band

" Service host local system" has been an issue on my PC for a while. It uses a lot of CPU which makes me feel uncomfortable, and today I seem to have found a fix using the SFC and DISM commands.

I wanted to present my findings in a concise report for those who only have what appears to be the lower level of problem that I had. I notice that probably all the other reports are for far more serious situations, but there is nothing for those of us requiring a simple solution.

At an Administrator command prompt, enter the SFC and DISM commands (see below). They took about 10mins each to run on my PC.

    sfc /scannow

    Followed by -:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

In both cases for me the results came back without errors and with a noticeable improvement in CPU behaviour.

I have noticed for a long time that my PC suffers lots of activity from "Service host: local system (2)". If left alone it eventually does what is needs to and stops, but I really don't know what it does. Thankfully the SSD that I installed a year ago has improved the performance so much that I don't notice a drop is responsiveness. But sadly I am one of those people who incessantly feels uncomfortable if things "don't look right" and then asks 'why?"; and then have to find an answer.

After looking at Answers and Technet it appears that some unfortunate soles have far more complex variants of the problem than I seem to have had and therefore for those with my simple variant, ploughing through all the complex solutions could prevent a user finding an easy fix.

So I found this and I decided to look at the help for the commands and then use them.

    The result was -:

    1. No obvious Service host local system (2) afterwards
    2. Generally a quiet CPU
    3. Apps like anti-virus at the top of the list and swapping with other apps that I expect to see running. So now the process list appears how I would hope it to.
    4. Depending on what I am doing, the CPU can rise to nearly 100% and then eases off as the processing is done and then settles to near zero as if there is nothing holding it back. It's a totally different PC now.

I think there is reason to claim that my PC is operating more effectively - for the moment...

    HTH

    :)

  2. Service Host: Windows Biometric Service and Service Host: Local System (2) high cpu usage

Service Host: Windows Biometric Service and Service Host: Local System (2) high CPU usage. I don't open many apps but this two service occupy most of my CPU availability. The CPU usage is very high and my computer always hot because of this, even after
    sleep.

Please help me to solve this!

svchost.exe / service host : local system ( network restricted ) high usage memory and CPU

When you open Task Manager a little bit, you’ll see that svchost.exe service host: local system (network restricted) is causing the problem of high CPU usage. To improve your Windows performance, and get rid of the high CPU usage, you
have to disable Superfetch service. Superfetch used to pre-load data from hard disk into RAM memory. So let's follow this steps.

Fix svchost.exe service host: local system (network restricted)
