  2. No scanners were detected

I tried using my Windows Fax and Scan like I usually do. I get this error:

No scanners were detected. If a scanner is installed, make sure that it is powered on and connected to the computer and then try again. For information about adding or troubleshooting scanners, see Help and Support.

I searched on Windows website and found this:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Press “Windows key + X”.
    • Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
    • Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
    • Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
    • Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2: Un-install and re-install latest scanner drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

    Follow these steps:

    • Press “Windows Key + X” from the keyboard.
    • Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
    • Right click on the scanner drivers and select “Uninstall”.
    • Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

      This was not helpful.

    "HackTool"

Empty temporary internet files, restart the computer, manually update Defender so you'll have the latest definitions and run a Quick Scan.

See https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-hacktool-win32-keygen-virus/ Note the suggestion to send a copy of the file if necessary
to VirusTotal for analysis and that you may need to reset your browsers.

Other scanners that may help with this issue are listed in List
    of Malware Removal Tools

How to remove totally the following detected by Microsoft Security Scanner HackTool:...

Windows 10 Defender not able to remove HACKTOOLS

Typically a HackTools detection is something that was installed on the system as part of either a crack, hacking tool or other attempt to circumvent a license. Removing these may break that software, so Microsoft may simply have chosen not to remove this
automatically and instead require that you uninstall it manually.

Take a look at the Show Details information for that item and scroll down to the end where the path is typically listed. This should both tell you more about what the item is and via the path, provide the information required to remove a file manually if
that's what the detection is for.
