Windows 10 1809 nuked half of my laptop CPU performance.

Like the title, after the "refined" 1809 update, my laptop got slower. I gradually noticed it but I could not pin point why... until now. The dam things cap my laptop at 1.2 GHz on any kind of load. In the picture, I am encoding a video using ffmpeg and the CPU just stalls at 50%.

Keep in mind that I am one of those people who got the early update of 1809, and apart from the stupid CPU usage add-up calculation made my Task Manager, my laptop was fine... Until the "finished" 1809.

Seriously, fix the damm 1809. Thank you, Microsoft!

    INCORRECT CPU FREQUENCY READING

    Hello Muhammad,

CPU usage depends on the applications that are open to your device. To isolate the problem, we suggest that you answer the following questions:

    • Can you include a screenshot of the CPU reading?
    • Have you tried performing a
      clean boot
      to eliminate software conflicts?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
