Windows 10: Bluetooth headset problems

I have an issue with getting my headset to work on my laptop and I will do my best to explain exactly what is happening.


I have a Turtle Beech stealth 700 that i use primarly on my Xbox but occasionally on my laptop. I had it set up via bluetooth a while ago and hadnt used it on my laptop for a few months. Last night I went to use it and there was no sound coming out the laptop or the headset when it was connected. I did some googling and tried a few things.

At this point it was showing the device as connected and paired under the bluetooth list.

It was showing up as an option for audio output in the drop down box in audio settings.

When i went into the sound control panel it was showing in both playback and recording although in playback it was enabled but not connected. No matter how many times i clicked connect nothing would happen.

I checked device manager and drivers for the headset were showing in the audio section.


i decided to just disconnect the blue tooth, forget the device and reconnect it. Same as above. I then decided to delete the drivers as well as forget the device in bluetooth.


When i reconnected via bluetooth this time. The device shows up in ‘other devices’ in the bluetooth list. It doesnt appear at all in the drop boxes for sound input in the sound settings and no sign of it in the sound control panel in recording or playback. In device manager the driver for it now shows in the bluetooth section.


I connected a wireless controller via bluetooth to test the bluetooth and it worked. I also connected a wired set of headphones and they worked fine. I have ran troubleshooting on the device, on bluetooth and on audio and had no success. The headset in question also connects to my phone and to my xbox with no issues.

• What is the make and model of your headset and Bluetooth dongle?
