Windows 10: How to block a complete program folder in defender firewall ?

Hello

In windows defender firewall can I block a complete folder named ex: (google) or ex: (nero) , instead of individual apps in sub folders in the folder, so I can block entire program instead of just one app at a time ?

I don't want to turn apps on or off one at a time, I want to block entire program folder.

Was unable to find that option in Brink tutorial.

Do this through advanced sets , outbound rules wizard ? or is there a simpler way to block a folders complete contents in ex: C:\program files (x86) nero folder , and set to block ?

FIREWALL IS BLOCKING CERTAIN PROGRAMS

One of the most common problems when using a network firewall is that it sometimes blocks network traffic that you want to allow.

Please follow the below step to troubleshoot with the issue:

• Open the “Control Panel“.
• Select “System and Security.
• In the Windows Firewall section, select “Allow a program through Windows Firewall“.
• Unchecking the box to the left of the application name disallows it from accessing network resources, while checking it allows access.
• If the program you wish to block or unblock is not listed, you can click the “Allow another program…” button to add it. Choose the application in the list and select “Add“. If the program is not in this list, use the “Browse…”
  button to select the program file manually.

Blocking a program in firewall?


What program are you trying to block? Some might using Windows components to check for updates.

As suggested try some windows firewall control, it is an extended interface for Windows Firewall, you will be still using native controls, but default interface is just too unfriendly.

Or use a real firewall instead, because it will actually do the job:

I need a firewall that allows me to easily block / unblock programs.

Yep, I don't care what program it is, but if anyone knows of a program that simply lets me right click a desktop .exe icon and from the list it will bring up, just have a direct shortcut in that list to block it in firewall with a single click... would be fantastic. If that doesn't exist its fine, an extra 2-3 clicks isnt going to kill me lol
