Windows 10: Windows 10 activation after new hardware change

I just upgrade my desktop by purchasing a new motherboard and processor and kept my origanal hard drive that had a valid windows 10 home activated on it. I changed to my new motherboard but now can activate windows and cant troubleshoot it. I get this error code 0xC004F211. what do can I do to re-activate it?

From time to time on my thoroughbred PC, I get a Windows activation message that says my hardware changed siginificantly and I have to re-activate Windows. My hardware hasn't changed any more than a network card (went from a wireless g card to onboard lan to a wired network card), and the install is legit. Why is it doing this, and how can I stop it?

Along with the suggestions provided by Greg, you can also refer the steps below.



The only hardware changes that can negatively impact activation status once you upgrade to free version are the changes to the:

• CPU
• TPM
• Motherboard replacement

The following changes are examples of hardware changes that will NOT impact the activation status:

• HDD/SSD
• Video card
• Adding extra memory

If you replace the CPU, TPM, or Motherboard you may have to re-activate but this will not require a purchase of Windows 10.

Absent having prepared with those, then I'd open the Support app and chat with an agent to explain your problem as they may be able to activate based on information they can glean from the install.

Is this the same Windows 10 install, and can you share with others how easy it was to boot it after the major hardware change (other than the activation problem). Many of us are amazed at how adaptive WIndows 10 is compared with previous versions.
