Low performance in games, FPS drops, game is not smooth on new SSD

    Hello,

A few days ago I installed Windows 10 on my laptop using Microsoft instalation tool (Pobierz WindowsÂ*10) (Windows 10 version 1809). I've done it because I've changed my old HDD to SSD. On the previous disk (HDD) I had Windows 10 version 1803.

Unfortunately, after installing several games, it turned out that there is a significant drop in performance during game. When I was using my old disk, the FPS were relatively stable (at around 130-150). The game worked very smoothly and without complaints. Now, having a new disk with new system (Win 10 1809), the FPS jump from 85-150. The game cuts out from time to time, the screen frames and there is a lot of discomfort. It looks like that I am lagging (even in offline playing).

The things that I tried to do:

    - I updated all possible drivers (graphics card, sound card, etc.) - several times trying different versions of drivers

    - I have disabled xbox services (I read that it can affects on the performance during game)

    - I have disabled all options from the "Playing" settings (Settings -> Playing, including the game bar)

    - I changed the visual effects in order to get the best possible system performance

    - I have disabled the dvr option using the registry

    - in the nVidia control panel I set all the options like it were on the old disk (i.e., for the maximum performance)

    - I set the games options to the least demanding ones

    - I changed the power options to the highest performance

    - I used an anti-virus to check for any unwanted files / programs / viruses

    - I changed the thermoconductive paste in the laptop

    - I reinstalled the games several times

    - I reinstalled Windows (I thought there might be some installation error)

None of the above solutions helped. I thought I might have damaged something when changing HDD to SSD. I installed the HHD disk again. On it (Windows 10 1903 version) everything worked as it should. I decided to make photoes of all the settings and make the same settings (including the same versions of all drivers) on the new disk. I did everything as planned but it not helped.

Despite the low performance in games the disk runs very smoothly and there are no problems with it. I will add that the games and the system are installed on different local disks.

    I have a Lenovo y50-70 laptop:

    - Intel Core i5-4210H processor

    -8GB RAM

    -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960m

What should I do to make the games run smoothly again? I am looking for a solution for several days and I have no ideas anymore. I've already searched for answers on many forums and videos on YouTube but nothing helped.

    Sorry for my Enlglish!

    Regards

    :)

  3. Games in HDD have FPS drop

    Hi,

I bought a new computer recently and I have noticed that it has FPS drop in all games that are installed on the HDD.

This PC has 1 SSD and 1 HDD.

The SSD is the C partition (OS) and the HDD is the D partition.

When games are installed on the SSD, they run great. But, when games are installed on the HDD they have FPS drop constantly (every 10 seconds more or less).

I'd really appreciate any help to solve this problem.

    Regards,

    Phoenix

UPDATE: I installed the game on an External HDD and the game runs great. I don't get why it does not run well with the internal HDD.

  4. Low performance in games, FPS drops, game is not smooth on new SSD

Low performance in games - WIN10

    Hello,
as title suggest, I have constant stutters, microstutters and FPS drops in almost every game, even when I usually exceed recommended requirements, althoutht OS itself seems to run fine.
I had not any of these problems before the upgrade from Windows 8.1.

Problem details: Stutters and slowdowns occurs even when my Framerate per second is between 50-60, which should be high above smooth gameplay (so everything under 60FPS is notable slowed down) althought games runned smooth before on these FPS.
I think something in windows is interfering with Vertical synchronisation - this function should ensure smooth experience when FPS does not equal Hz on screen, but as I found out, performance is still the same if either Vsync is on or off.
Or problem may be somewhere else.
Please kindly check attachments for more informations.

    Best regards
