Windows 10: An unspecified error occurred by chkdsk

I didn't have access to my external Seagate 700 GB, so I got EaseUS Data Recovery and recovered the 250 GB I had used. I use Win 10.


Reformatted the drive and started copying files to it. It started the process, but it would freeze. At times, the drive would just simply disengage and the process was stopped because it could not find the drive. I did this several times, advancing slowly, but then I decided to check it.


I used "chkdsk f:/r" from Command prompt and it completed the five stages, but at the end, it reported:

"an unspecified error occurred (6e74667363686b2e 137a)" and
"an unspecified error occurred (6e74667363686b2e 1713)"​

I have not been able to find any suggestion on what to do. Could you help, please?

Hey there, so i've been using my external 1TB hard drive to store steam games and movies, but since 2 weeks ago its been running really slow, so i tried doing a chkdsk and i get the error: An unspecified error occurred (6e74667363686b2e 12a9). So does anyone
know why this happened? Thx

 

CHKDSK - an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)

I've got the same thing. My hard drive got an imminent failure message about a week ago and I've been trying to clone it to the new drive for the last 3 days. It keeps failing at 98% of just the C: (OS) partition. All the other ones clone fine. I've used
CHKDSK /F and it always says my drive is fine. Today I tried using CHKDSK /R as a last resort and it started working, replacing bad clusters. Suddenly I get this same unspecified error occurred code and CHKDSK stopped.

 

Chkdsk read error / unspecified error occurred

I have an old hard drive (1TB) that was taken out from my laptop and currently been used as a external drive. However it seems reaching the end of its life.

HDTune showing a bad sector at around 2961 MB-3076MB location, so I used chkdsk (command prompt, > chkdsk F: /f /r /x) and fixed it. Then I formatted the hard drive using the normal formatting and test using HD tune shows all green. But after a while the
HDTune shows the bad sector came back. (no new sectors popping up)

So I repeated those steps at least 2 times, but the bad sector came back yet again at time of writing.

Further more, sometimes chkdsk will fail to finish at very end (see attached picture), returning



following message:

A disk read error offcuredc0000483

An unspecified error occurred (6c6f6766696c652e 29f)

Some times chkdsk will ran normally but other times it returns error just like the one above, and the same bad sector seems always there. So maybe it is time for me to say bye bye to this hard drive? Or is there a way to salvage that hard drive like repartitioning
to skip the bad sectors?
