Sound Randomly Stops For No Apparent Reason

My computer randomly updated to the latest version last night without any prior warning. Luckily, I didn't have anything important open at the time. When I got on, I opened Spotify like I normally do and started my music. A few seconds into the first song, the audio just cuts out. I've verified that this is NOT an issue with Spotify, but rather with my audio drivers. No matter which program is outputting the audio, I can't hear it. Windows sounds are also inaudible. I've done a clean reinstall of my Realtek audio drivers, which did nothing. If I look at a visualizer, I can clearly see that audio is being played and processed by Windows, despite not being able to hear it. If I reboot into Ubuntu, my sound is perfectly fine (so it isn't my headphones that are the issue). If I go into my sound settings in order to get to the sound control panel (idk which idiot removed the shortcut from the audio tile on the taskbar), I can once again see that audio is being played through my default output device. If I disable enhancements then re-enable it, I can hear audio again. If I close out of the main sound settings menu though, I can no longer hear anything again. If I close out of the main sound settings menu before disabling and re-enabling enhancements, I can circumvent the sound stopping when I close it and can exit out of the sound control panel and still hear sound, but the fix only lasts for maybe 5 minutes before my sound cuts out again. Testing my audio device will "fix" it in the same way the enhancements toggle does.

    Recap:

    Things I've tried:

    • Reinstalling audio drivers (Sound doesn't work)
    • Using different drivers (Sound doesn't work)
    • Using Linux (Sound works)

    Things it isn't:

    • My headphones
    • Spotify

    Any help would be appreciated!

    :)

  2. Sound Randomly Turns Off

I'm having a problem where the sound in my Win 10 computer randomly stops and then randomly goes back on. When it happens, it basically pauses anything that plays sound. When I try to click play nothing happens and everything can randomly comes back on,
sometimes taking 15 mins. Its a huge problem so if anyone has an idea, im open to suggestions.

    Thanks for you help!

    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue Sound Randomly Stops For No Apparent Reason :p
