Windows 10: Microsoft store will not open

I've been struggling with this annoying problem for a week now. I wanted to install some of the WSL-type packages, so I navigated to the Microsoft Store. When I tried to go to the page for downloading the app, the Store crashed. After updating to the latest available Windows 10 package, I could no longer enter the Store in the first place. It would crash on startup. I tried everything. I did "sfc /scannow", and a number of other commands. "wsreset.exe" is entirely broken, it cannot find any of the files it needs to reset.


Today, I tried using the Microsoft Support from this website. I got connected to an agent quickly, and I was passed along to a technician. He tried everything that I had tried, and had no luck. He did an "In-Place" update, which he claimed would remove all Microsoft programs and reinstall them. As soon as he started the Media Installation tool or whatever, he ended the chat session. I tried to give him bad feedback, since he left me hanging, but he abused the LogMeIn control power he had, and closed my window. This meant that I couldn't give feedback on him!

I got back with another agent, and reported my experience to her. She said it would be passed along.


Once the "In Place" thing had fully completed, I restarted a few times, and installed some new updates. I tried opening the Microsoft store, but it still won't open. Furthermore, my Start Menu was completely reset, and everything is slow now.


I don't know how many times I will have to ask for help, or where I should be looking, but it's clear from other threads on this forum that Microsoft has failed to fix this problem. Please help me!

To resolve your concern about Windows Store, we suggest for you to follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + R key to open Run.
• Type wsreset.exe and press
  Enter.
• Restart the PC, sign in with your Microsoft user account and check if you are able to find Windows Store.

I would suggest you to clear the cache memory of the Windows Store app.

Try the following steps:

• 
  Press Windows + R keys to open Run window
  
• 
  Type wsreset.exe and hit enter.
  

Now try to open Windows store and see if that helps.

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
