Windows 10: Windows 10 Feature Update 1809 Failed to Install - 0x80240034

I got a Dell Inspiron 5570 laptop earlier this year and had worked fine up until the 1803 feature update last May that made my laptop horrendously slow with slow start-up times (startup times prior to the update was 30-40 seconds) and 100% disk usage even when my hard drive still had a lot of free space. I tried fixes from forums to remedy the 100% disk usage issue by disabling processes such as superfetch and windows search. Over time the occurrence of the 100% disk usage issue was reduced but did not completely go away (usually happens when I am only using Google Chrome). Now my disk shows 100% usage even when I am playing games and causes frame stuttering every second, making situations unplayable. I decided to finally update to the latest feature update with the hopes that my problems would finally be solved, however, the 1809 feature update failed to install and displayed the code 0x80240034.

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Hi,

I had the feature update 1709 installed successfully installed on 18/03/18.

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709

Successfully installed on ‎18/‎03/‎2018

This morning it tried to update 1709 again and it came up with:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709

Failed to install on ‎22/‎03/‎2018 - 0x80240034

Why is it trying to install the same update again?
