  1. Last update completely screwed up all of my audio options

Why can't Microsoft developers stop rolling out updates that completely screw up my computer? The last update hosed all of my audio functions. Every time I log in, my external speakers don't work and I have to spend 15 minutes fiddling with settings just to listen to music.

I also occasionally use Audacity to record online courses and audiobooks. I haven't done this in about a month, and today I need to record some course material. I plugged in my Shure microphone and started Audacity. This has always worked just fine in the past, but today I am getting an error. My software won't recognize my microphone even though it's freaking worked just fine for the last two years. I have spent the last hour trying to get it to work. I finally gave up and am now using my old Win 7 computer. I started it up, plugged in my microphone and it immediately worked. WHY IS WINDOWS 10 SO FREAKING BUGGY AND UNRELIABLE???

I guess I don't really want any help because I have no idea how to fix this, I am not a programmer, and I don't want to spend hours on cryptic crap trying to get basic things to work on my computer, especially since the next forced update will probably just break everything again. I should just be able to plug stuff in and it freaking work like it has for years.

Does anyone have any experience emulating Windows on a Chromebook? I use Audacity , which doesn't have a Chromebook app, so I'm wondering if I can figure out how to run it on a CHromebook and ditch this piece of crap Windows 10 laptop.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Last update completely screwed up all of my audio options :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
